The DirectTrust team recently welcomed Leann Boyd as our new Operations and Community Coordinator, a role established to provide additional support for our accreditation and membership programs as they evolve and grow. With more than 20 years of experience spanning nonprofit technology, retail operations, and executive leadership, Leann brings extensive experience in creating scalable systems, strengthening stakeholder relationships, and turning complex work into reliable results.
We recently sat down with Leann to learn more about her background, what drew her to DirectTrust, and what she’s looking forward to in her new role.
Tell us a little about yourself and what led you to DirectTrust.
Leann Boyd: Much of my career has been about building the structure that enables organizations to grow, deliver on their commitments, and serve people well. I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of building two startup companies from the ground up, which meant wearing a lot of different hats. There was no established playbook, so we had to create the processes, partnerships, and operational foundations that moved the business forward as we went.
One of those companies was a nonprofit technology organization that helped make giving more accessible and affordable for nonprofits. It was exciting because we were entering uncharted territory and creating something that hadn’t been available to most nonprofits before.
After that company was acquired, my husband and I took a very brief shot at retirement before getting bored and moving on to our next venture. I later helped lead an e-commerce retail company, overseeing marketing, public relations, customer experience, vendor partnerships, and operations. That experience reinforced something I’ve observed throughout my career: strong operations are not just administrative; they are what allow an organization to scale, build trust, and deliver consistently to its customers.
DirectTrust stood out because I wanted to be part of a company that made a difference. It is doing meaningful work in an industry where reliability, collaboration, and accountability truly matter. Even though healthcare technology is a new field for me, building effective systems, improving processes, and helping teams operate at their best is very familiar territory. I’m excited to bring that experience to the team as well as learn from the expertise already here.
You’ve worked in several different industries throughout your career. What connects those experiences?
LB: The common thread has always been helping organizations operate more effectively. Regardless of the industry, my role has been helping organizations improve processes, support customers and stakeholders, and make sure things run smoothly behind the scenes.
I’ve never been someone who’s focused on titles. I enjoy jumping in where I’m needed, learning new things, and helping teams succeed.
What excites you most about your role supporting both accreditation and membership programs?
LB: Honestly, I love learning, and I love a new challenge. Joining an industry that’s completely new to me is both exciting and maybe a little intimidating. There is a lot to learn, but that is part of what makes this opportunity exciting.
In addition to growing alongside the team. I’m looking forward to diving into the different aspects of DirectTrust and the work we do to support our members and accreditation programs.
What can members and organizations expect when they work with you?
LB: I’d say they’ll find someone who’s responsive, thorough, and committed to following through.
I believe details matter, especially in healthcare. I like to make sure commitments are followed through, information is accurate, and nothing falls through the cracks. I’m naturally detail-oriented, and I enjoy helping projects move forward efficiently while making sure they’re done right.
I also believe good work is built through good relationships. Everyone I’ve met at DirectTrust has been incredibly welcoming, and I’m excited to become part of the team.
What have your first few weeks at DirectTrust been like?
LB: Right now, I’m spending a lot of time listening and learning. I’ve been meeting the team, learning how each department operates, and understanding where I can best support everyone.
There’s certainly a learning curve with healthcare technology, but that’s part of what attracted me to this opportunity. I’m excited to continue building my knowledge while helping support the organization’s day-to-day operations.
Outside of work, what keeps you busy?
LB: My husband and I enjoy traveling, and we spend a lot of time outdoors here in the Ozarks, taking advantage of weekends at the lake and enjoying trails nearby.
Life is also pretty busy with family. My youngest daughter is preparing to graduate from high school and begin college, so we’re tackling all of the senior year chaos. My son just finished college and is getting ready to move to Chicago. My oldest daughter and her husband are getting ready to welcome our second granddaughter in August, so it’s an exciting time for our family.
Leann’s background in operations, process improvement, and organizational support will be a valuable asset to DirectTrust as we continue to strengthen our accreditation and membership programs. We’re excited to welcome her to the team and look forward to the experience, enthusiasm, and collaborative spirit she’ll bring to our members, partners, and community. Please help us welcome Leann!
