Code Systems
A CodeSystem is used to declare the existence of and describe a code system or code system supplement and its key properties, and optionally define a part of or all of its content. Code systems define which codes (symbols and/or expressions) exist, and how they are understood.
DirectTrust CodeSystems

| SuffixCS | The system of codes to express the representations of additional information about a person shown at the end of their family name. |
| ServDescCS | The system of codes to express the use cases for a Direct endpoint. |
| EntTypeCS | The system of codes to express the different entity type classifications defined and recognized by DirectTrust. |
| HispIdCS | The system of codes to represent each HISP in the DirectTrust Network. |
| DTFormatCodeCS | The system of codes to express formatCode metadata defined by implementation guides published by DirectTrust. A formatCode specifies the technical format that a Direct message’s content conforms to. A formatCode is a further specialization more detailed than the mime-type. A formatCode provides sufficient information to allow any potential Content Consumer to know if it can process and/or display some or all of the content of the Direct message based on the content encoding, structure and conformance indicated by the formatCode. The set of formatCodes used across the healthcare ecosystem is intended to be extensible to easily expand interoperability. |
| MetadataTypeCS | The system of codes to express the payload metadata types defined by DirectTrust. |
| DTTemporaryCodeCS | The system of temporary codes defined by DirectTrust to represent concepts needed in metadata models. The temporary codes are placeholder concepts while DirectTrust works with other SDOs to request new codes. |
| DTContextTypeCodeCS | The system of codes to express a Context Type defined to support information exchange use cases where multiple contexts may be relevant and the type of context needs to be expressed to manage complex workflows associated with the exchange of information. |

| FacetCS | The system of codes developed by CMS to represent Provider educational credential qualifications. |
