Naming Systems
A NamingSystem is a curated namespace that issues unique symbols within that namespace for the identification of concepts, people, devices, etc. It represents a “system” used within the Identifier and Coding data types and can be noted in a registry for other systems to find and understand.
DirectTrust NamingSystems

| HispOrganizationNS | The naming system for identifying HISP Organizations that submit Directory contribution files. |
| LocUidNS | The naming system for identifying facility locations provided by a HISP in the LOC_UID field of a submitted Directory contribution file. |
| ProvUidNS | The naming system for identifying practitioners provided by a HISP in the PROV_UID field of a submitted Directory contribution file. |
| OrganizationAffiliationNS | The naming system for identifying organization affiliations. These identifiers uniquely identify an Organization being served by a specific HISP. The identifier is created as an OA- followed by the md5 hex hash of the HISPID and an Organization Identifier provided by the Endpoint Verification Service EV_ORG_UID. |
| OrganizationNS | The naming system for identifying an Organization within the DirectTrust Directory. The identifier is created as an O- followed by the md5 hex hash of the HISPID and an Organization Identifier provided by the Endpoint Verification Service EV_ORG_UID. |
| LocationNS | The naming system for idenitying a service Location managed by a specific Organization in the DirectTrust Directory. The identifier is created as L- followed by the md5 hex hash of HISPID, LOC_NAME, LOC_ADDR_1, LOC_ADDR_2, LOC_CITY, LOC_STATE, LOC_ZIP. |
| PractitionerRoleNS | The naming system for identifying a Practitioner’s role within the DirectTrust Directory. These identifiers uniquely identify a Practitioner’s role at a specific Organization or Group Practice, working at specific facility locations, providing specific services and belonging to specific health networks. The identifier is created as PR- followed by the md5 hex hash of HISPID, EV_ORG_UID, LOC_UID, and PROV_UID, PROV_NPI, PROV_NAME. |
| PractitionerNS | The naming system for identifying a Practitioner within the DirectTrust Directory. The identifier is created as P- followed by the md5 hex hash of HISPID, PROV_UID, PROV_NPI, PROV_NAME. |
| EndpointNS | The naming system for identifying an Endpoint within the DirectTrust Directory. For each Endpoint created, the identifier is created as E- followed by the md5 hex hash of HISPID and SERV_DIRECT_ADDR. |
| DirectAddressNS | The naming System for identifying a Direct address Endpoint in the DirectTrust Directory. It is a string that is the actual Direct Address with no hashing. |
